Laura Ayoub (20) is in her third year at the Royal College of Music, where she studies violin with Jan Repko and piano with Kathron Sturrok.
Prior to studying at the Royal College of Music, Laura achieved grade 8 with distinction at the tender age of 13. She was the leader of several youth orchestras and performed at The Royal Albert Hall as part of the BBC Proms in 2012 and 2013 with the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland and Great Britain.
ABRSM (in association with Puresolo) competition win enabled Laura to play and record on a world renowned Stradivarius violin in SARM Studios, London. She also received a masterclass from Nicola Benedetti. Some other prizes include the Grace Dick Memorial Prize, Ailie Cullen Memorial Prize, the St Mungo Challenge Trophy and the John Fyfe Trophy which was awarded to the most outstanding performer of the Glasgow Music Festival. Laura also reached the national final of the Rotary Young Musician of the Year competition in 2013. Alongside older sister and pianist, Sarah, The Ayoub Sisters were crowned winners of The Big Music Project Classical Competition. Together the duo will make their Royal Albert Hall debut in April 2016 which will be broadcasted live on Classic FM.
Performance highlights include solo appearances with members from the Royal Concervatoire of Scotland, The Salon Orchestra, The Kensington Philharmonic Orchestra and The West of Scotland Symphony Schools Orchestra in the City Halls of Glasgow, conducted by James Lowe. Laura has performed in many other prestigious venues such as The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, The Younger Hall, The Usher Hall, The Sage Gateshead, Royal Festival Hall, The Barbican and The Embassy of Switzerland to name but a few. Solo recitals includes venues all over the UK, France Italy, Lithuania, Slovenia and Egypt.
Sarah Ayoub (23) studied piano and cello at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, for which she was awarded a scholarship from the Wilson Bequest and graduated with First-Class Honours, 2014.
Before commencing her studies, Sarah was the recipient of The Nivina MacDuff Prize (ABRSM), the Lillian Campbell Memorial Prize, the William Findley Trophy, the Allie Cullen Memorial Prize and the John Fife Trophy from Glasgow Music Festival.
Sarah made her concerto debut age 16 with the WSSSO, performing Shostakovich Piano Concerto no 2 under the baton of James Lowe.
Achievements at the RCS included: 3rd prize at the Moray International Piano Competition, the Philip Halstead Concerto Prize, the Dunbar-Gerber Prize for chamber music and the Lamond Piano Prize. Sarah was concerto soloist with the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Symphony Orchestra, Kelvin Ensemble and Glasgow Orchestral Society.
In 2015, Sarah made her concerto debut with the Cairo Symphony Orchestra and was the winner of The Big Music Project Classical Competition with sister and violin duo, Laura Ayoub. Together the duo will make their Royal Albert Hall debut in April 2016 which will be broadcasted live on Classic FM.
Performance highlights include: Glasgow Piano Festival; Cottier Chamber Project; Swiss Embassy London, collaborating with London Sinfonietta and Hebrides Ensemble as well as an appearance alongside Lang Lang, at the South Bank Centre in May, 2011.
A keen cellist, although starting at the late age of twelve, Sarah achieved a Diploma of performance awarded by the ABRSM, age seventeen. Sarah is a former member of numerous orchestras including the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland (NYOS), the National Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands and currently plays with Camerata Scotland. Sarah has also performed with international fellow Ilya Gringolts and Nicola Benedetti.
